Kyoto. The station is a madhouse -- looks like the refugees aren't the only ones trying to leave right now. The train's so full, it's like rush hour back home.
[RIP the people who get to stand for 5 hours on the way to Tokyo, but at least they're getting out.]
Akutagawa-sempai and Chuuya-san are both still here, too. We've been trying to get a train out all day.
[ With that announcement, she figured it might be somewhat, but if the natives knew this event would pass, surely the majority would have planned better? Wishful thinking, perhaps. Regardless, 'should have' doesn't solve the problem. ]
I'm fine. I'm just glad I'm not alone over here. But none of us really know what to expect.
But I feel like it has something to do with the Yokai. Most of the people crowding the station are humans or-- just other refugees. Which-- kinda gives me a bad feeling? Working with the Port Market didn't exactly give me the best impression of Yokai...
Perhaps you could get some answers from the native population waiting at the station? I could theorize all day, but they might not necessarily match reality. Mine and Nippon certainly have some similarities, but the differences may be too marked for comfort on this subject.
[ And it may well be their safety and that of the populace at risk. Yes, "and". ]
You say that like I haven't tried. Most of them don't seem to want to talk about it, or look at me like I've grown a second head when I ask. None of the refugees trying to flee seem to know either.
[...]
But considering it's mostly humans trying to leave, then I think... they might be afraid of getting eaten?
Which-- sounds like a stretch, but I know the Port Market sells human meat and blood, created with magic. I had to work at one of those stores for a little while, back when I was still with them. And the only customers we ever got were refugees with strange diets, and Yokai.
It's illegal to eat humans now, but I guess that wasn't always the case in the West. So if this an older festival, maybe that's a part of it?
[ Not to Setsura despite the differences between this world and its beings and her own. She doesn't sound particularly shocked for that matter. ]
That's likely part of it and the extent of it concerns me. Have you considered contingencies in case the three of you aren't able to get on a train back?
The three of us are more than capable of taking care of whatever happens. The two of them alone did take on the whole Port Market once, nevermind all their accomplishments back home.
Honestly, the real problem will probably be how to keep those two from going stir-crazy by locking them inside all night... after all, just because we can handle ourselves doesn't mean we should have to. I'll probably have to bribe Chuuya-san with some of the really fancy wine...
You misunderstand me. It isn't just the three of you I'm concerned about.
[ No, she knows they're capable; though, she's still learning how. That doesn't mean the rest of the populace should be subject to those lessons. At least, where they aren't deserving. ]
You'll be able to manage those two, won't you? I can come there if I need to.
Hopefully we won't be trapped here for too long. But I'm sure if you said something, Light-san would do something to make enough of a rukus for the three of us combined.
I'll make sure my first-aid kid is stocked with something for that.
[ She's been meaning to add to it, anyway. Lewin may not be Iris here, but she's confident in her Leaf's ability to push it physically in some way or another and in a house full of still quite human mafiosos she isn't entirely certain would know the meaning of the word "restraint"... well, better to be prepared than not. ]
In the meantime, enjoy the relative quiet, I suppose.
Shortly after Dazai's post
So later in the day, she'll find a package of brightly colored wagashi left outside her door.]

Hopefully she'll be okay. He's not sure how much more he can do to help with the whole Akutagawa problem, but he wishes he could help more.]

[Which is debatable tbh]
Besides, if things do start to get strange around here, it would be better to have a contact in the East as well, to see if it's happening everywhere.

[ "Quieter," not simply quiet. Lewin's in the East, after all, but she doesn't sound exactly thrilled. ]
